Limit number of messages per connection to  - Exchange 2003
Hi, on SMTP Virtual server proeprties, i have selected "Limit number of messages per connection to" = 20. Now how i can confirm this setting is works fine. My audit guy need evidence that after 20 connections, exchange drops the connection? Please help Cheers Taj

You need to enable SMTP protocol logging on SMTP virtual property and generate log. You can see status in LOG when server refuse connection and pass connection also. Below is the good atricle for proceed ! http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Logging_the_SMTP_Service.htmlAnil

As you want to check limit for SMTP connection then select all option in "External loggining property" and then save log file where you have enough space. Generated log for some days and then export into exel file as suggested in above URL which i have given you. Please follow steps in below URL for complete your result. Limiting the number of messages per connection is not the same as preventing more than 20 sessions to the SMTP VS. If you want to limit the number of SMTP connections to the SMTP VS, set that on the General tab. Note that connections arent dropped when limiting connections, rather the sending server should get a 4xx soft error, telling it that the server is busy and it should try again at some point.
